The Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, is becoming an important alternative for shipments between China and Europe. It connects China's and Central Asia's railway networks with the Caspian Sea ports, the Caucasus, Türkiye and European markets.

How the route works

Cargo moves from China through Kazakhstan, crosses the Caspian Sea, and then continues through Azerbaijan and Georgia toward Türkiye and Europe. Combining rail and sea legs allows logistics operators to distribute flows more flexibly and use several transshipment points.

Benefits for businesses

The main advantages of the Middle Corridor are route diversification, lower dependence on individual transit directions and greater flexibility when international trade conditions change. For businesses, transparent planning, shipment visibility and coordination between carriers at every stage are especially important.

At the same time, the route requires close coordination between ports, railways and customs authorities. This makes reliable freight forwarding and operational control key factors in successful delivery.

Outlook

Infrastructure development in the Caspian region, digital documentation and growing container capacity could make the Middle Corridor a stable part of international logistics. For cargo owners, this means more options and more flexible supply-chain management.
